2020-2021 Covid Operations

Update: 11/17/20

Hello 49 family and friends,

We want to keep you informed of our plans and preparations for the coming season in light of the updated guidelines for Washington State. We are continuing to prepare for Opening Day and operating lifts in the coming weeks as conditions allow. The most recent guidelines include outdoor recreation and use of chairlifts, as well as access for indoor facilities, Food & Beverage operations, and seated dining. As of now, the plan we had in place for activities out on the mountain meet the most recent guidelines, so there are no notable changes to those plans as of now.

There will be modifications to some of our indoor operations, specifically food and beverage. Our operating procedures and policies below have been updated to reflect these new directives and we will continue to adjust as more information becomes available. We are working closely with state and county officials, as well as industry experts to revise our operating plans where needed and will continue to post updates as we learn more.

With that said, we also want to share some of the more exciting things from the last several days! First off, we’ve seen over 12 inches of snow fall since last Friday alone, and there’s more snow in the forecast for this week. Our groomers have been out track packing all of that new snow, and a nice base is developing. As of now, we’ve had our Pisten Bully snowcats out on Silver King, Silver Ridge, Mahres Gold, Silver Dollar, and Treasure Hill with great results. Over the coming days we will be testing our new snowmaking system and plan on making snow as overnight temperatures allow. Stay tuned for additional news and updates on an opening day!

We continue our quest to provide healthy outdoor recreation opportunities for you and your family to enjoy throughout the winter, but we need your help! Please plan ahead and check the website for updated operations. Plan on gearing up and eating at your cars, as well as staying with your family or household unit while on lifts or out on the slopes. We will do our best to keep you informed with respect to current guidelines and policies, and ask for the help of all of our guests in following those guidelines. We have no doubt that we can make this season a great one if we all work together. Thank you for your help in making this season possible. Please continue to check back and sign up for the Snow Report and Newsletter for updates throughout the season.

Thank you again and we hope to see you on the mountain soon,

Eric Bakken
General Manager

Lift Tickets & Reservations:

Lift tickets will be available to purchase online soon for those looking to pre-plan. Once our tickets sales are live, we are highly recommending that ALL day ticket guests purchase their tickets and book their visit dates through our online ticketing system. Capacity limitations within the Washington State COVID-19 guidelines will mean that only so many tickets are available each day. Purchasing tickets in advance for specific visit dates will be the only way to guarantee availability for those buying day tickets. This will be especially true for Weekends and Holiday periods. Please note, season pass holders will not need to schedule or reserve days to access the mountain at this time. *Reservation recommendations may change through the season, please stay tuned here, on social media and email communications.

Face Masks/Coverings:

Face coverings/masks will be required while in any indoor space and around our base areas. Masks will also be required in any outdoor area where social distancing is not possible. This will include areas such as ticket window and chairlift lines, unloading zones, and while riding lifts with others. This will be enforced, so please come prepared and help us stay open. Signs will be posted in these designated areas to remind guests and employees.

Updated Food & Beverage 11/16:

Seated dining will not be available in any of our indoor venues (Boomtown Bar, Quickturn Café, Cy’s Café) until December 14th, per state restrictions. At this time we are planning to have grab and go food service available, including hot food options for quick pick up and easy transport. We are currently working to increase outdoor seating space to provide additional places for our guests to take a break and get off their feet for a few minutes.

Guest Contact Points:

All guest contact points including the Snowsports School desks, Ticket Office stations, Rental Shop desks, Alpine Shop, Espresso and Cafe have been fitted with clear plexiglass barriers to protect guests and staff. Posted signs and corrals will also help guest manage distancing while in line.

Sanitization stations will be available around the lodge and at high frequency touch points for guests and staff. We will continue with a robust cleaning schedule throughout the lodge as well.

Update 11/17:

Guests will be expected to leave our facilities immediately after they are done skiing or riding to avoid over crowding and congestion. Evening gatherings in the parking lot will unfortunately need to wait until next season.

Lift Lines:

Guests will be asked to self-group and self-regulate their parties while in line and on the chairlifts. All lines will be set up to allow the recommended 6 feet of social distancing and we ask your help in making these effective.

Snowsports School

This year has offered unique challenges but we are excited to provide a variety of lesson offerings to allow individuals or families to get out and enjoy winter in the mountains. Reservations will be available for all lesson offerings this season. At this time we expect that we will need to require reservations during high visitation periods (weekends and holiday periods). Please plan ahead and make a reservation to guarantee availability. Learn more about all of our programs and schedules here.

Rental Shop

As with our other indoor spaces, capacity will be limited in the Rental Shop. We are finalizing a system that will allow guests to book rental packages in advance and have their equipment ready for pick up when they arrive. This will speed up the rental process on site, allowing guests to get to the lifts even faster. The only storage available inside the Rental Shop will be for footwear, for those renting equipment. All other personal belongings will need to be stored in vehicles.

Please stay in touch via ski49n.com, social media and our daily snow report emails.
